How concrete barriers are being used to transform urban environments and make safe and secure traffic free lanes.
Trying to find positives surrounding the 2020 Corona virus pandemic has been hard. However, lockdown from March to May has led to cleaner air, quieter streets, community spirit and the transformation of the built up environment of our towns and cities. More people have relied on walking or cycling to get around. As the country begins to emerge from lockdown, the Department for Transport wants to build on this momentum and encourage us to continue to be more active as a route to building our resilience against the virus.
In late May 2020, they issued Statutory Guidance in the Traffic Management Act 2004: network management response to COVID-19. APC Civils concrete traffic barriers offer a quick and efficient solution to help give local governments the capability to carry out these suggestions.
Here you can see how one of our barriers were used to widen pedestrian access on A45 / A46 Stonebridge Highway, Coventry.
Our team installs 210 meters of barrier per hour. The barrier system can be hired for short periods or can be purchased.Â
Observing the Social Distancing 2m Rule
The Construction Leadership Council has issued a road map to restarting construction and infrastructure projects. One of the duties of an employer is to undertake effective social distancing measures across construction sites to protect employees.
We can support employers’ efforts to observe Health & Safety on road works and construction sites as plans develop to adequately observe social distancing. Our concrete barrier system offers unlimited potential for increased segregation within urban environments and on construction sites including widened pedestrian walkways, pop-up cycle lanes and one way systems.
